you have a point with "a sense of perspective" as a prerequisite for happiness. it reminds me, though, of "the perspective machine" from Hitchhiker's Guide.., i.e. the machine that puts you in perspective with the entire universe. anyway, that was supposed to be the most horrible punishment a man can be exposed to. i guess it's about the measure of perspective, as it is with all things in life. the right measure provides happiness, or at least contentment. getting it wrong makes way for desolation, either through indolence or failed aspirations.
